Montgomery Fellow Magdalene Odundo presents AN ARTIST TALK

Internationally known ceramic artist Magdalene Odundo will be presenting a slide show of her work.

~~Magdalene Odundo was born in Kenya and educated in India, Kenya and the Royal College of Art in the UK. She holds the distinguished title of the Order of the British Empire.  She creates sculptural ceramics influenced by traditional African and Native American hand-built pottery.
 
Odundo is professor emeritus at the University for the Creative Arts (UCA) and its Crafts Study Centre at Farnham, UK. She lives and maintains a studio in Farnham, UK.  Glass has been her focus during the last few years, and she has done residencies at Museum of Glass in Tacoma, Washington; Pilchuck Glass Summer Workshops; and the National Glass Centre at the University of Sunderland, UK.
 
As described by the Metropolitan Museum of Art in NYC, Odundo’s profound exploration of the technical and expressive possibilities of the ceramic medium has created work unique within the landscape of contemporary art.
