Lorena Wolffer is one of the most influential figures in contemporary feminist art practice in Mexico. 

For more than three decades, her work has occupied a singular position at the intersection of art, activism, transfeminism, and public discourse, pioneering socially engaged and participatory methodologies that have transformed how feminist concerns are addressed within the cultural sphere.

Through social practice projects, performances, pedagogical initiatives, curatorial work, and institutional interventions, Wolffer has consistently challenged structures of violence, inequality, and exclusion, while opening spaces for collective reflection and civic engagement. Her work has been presented
extensively in Mexico and internationally, and her impact extends across museums, public space, academia, media, and grassroots feminist organizing.

Alongside her artistic practice, Wolffer has played a key role in shaping feminist cultural discourse and infrastructure in Mexico. Her longstanding institutional contributions include co-founding and directing Ex-Teresa Arte Alternativo of the Instituto Nacional de Bellas Artes y Literatura and coordinating major initiatives linking art, gender, and social justice at the Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México.

Her work has been recognized with numerous distinctions, including the Sistema Nacional de Creadores, the Hermila Galindo Medal from the Mexico City Congress, the Artraker Award for Social Impact in England, and the Omecíhuatl Medal granted by Inmujeres DF.

Her most recent works, Públicas and Presentas, rewrite patriarchal social contracts and bring the voices of women activists to the streets of Mexico City.
